[see top answer] Confirmation page and email Outlook Calendar Links aren't .ics files

Lakeside

Hello, On the new event setup, the Outlook calendar link on the event confirmation page and email lead to Outlook Web instead of providing an .ics file. I work in a B2B industrial setting and no one in my organization nor our customers use Outlook Web. The Outlook Web link doesn't even work in my browser for some reason - it always redirects to the main outlook page despite me being logged in. Can we add an .ics file download option on the event confirmation email/page? Thanks.

Hello everyone,

So our devs can collect information pertinent to the described issue, please either call general support or email communitysupport(at)constantcontact(dot)com with the following info:

  • your account username, so we can make sure the issue is being tracked to your account
  • the name(s) of the affected event campaign(s), so we can make sure to match up the campaigns with the confirmation emails being sent
  • if the affected registrant is logging in with a valid Microsoft account (not necessarily their Outlook login). The devs just need a confirmation from that registrant they're logging into a valid Microsoft account, not the login info itself.
  • a screenshot from the registrant of their browser's dev console (F12 keyboard function) with everything they can display for the Console and Network tabs - especially anything in bright red lettering on the Console tab. This will aid our devs in seeing where the technical issues are occurring when the particular Outlook program is opening the ICS links to redirect into the registrant's Outlook Calendar.

In the meantime, the only workaround would be for registrants to manually add the event details to their Outlook calendar, rather than using the link functionalities.

Hello @Lakeside ,

This appears to be an issue specifically springing up for devices that are set to connect with Outlook calendars. Our devs are currently looking into the issue, to see what needs to be done to alleviate the issue, or make the redirect function as expected.

Has there been any development on this? We are having the same issue that the original poster has detailed and it is impacting the number of attendees on our webinars.

Wow, almost 7 weeks later and this is still an issue? Can you at least delete the link so this doesn't look as bad as it...um...looks? Last I checked, more than a few people use Outlook on their devices.

Is there a way to disable the calendar links in the confirmation emails?

I found out that there is no way to disable/remove the links.

Is there any update to this? The legacy format worked better that it does now.  I am having the same issues and we are getting lower turnouts for our meetings as a result.

Really need to get this fixed. Can't use legacy events because our event is further out but need to have the Outlook link actually working.

I'm having the same issue. Hello Constant Contact? This is embarrassing for my company!

I just reached out to support on this same issue. Their suggested workaround is to add the event manually to your Outlook calendar. 😑 What am I supposed to do? Add some text by the add-to-calendar links that I can't delete that reads, "Sorry, the Outlook link doesn't work, so just add the event to your calendar manually." This is unacceptable!

I am having the same issue.  The outlook link is not working and takes me to a Microsoft page.  This helps our attendees keep track of our meetings.

Is there ANY kind of timeline for a fix (or even disabling this broken "option")? We're over 3 months now with no feedback on this issue. The lack of open communication is disturbing.
