Dear @ KathrynN5 and All: In our experience, when using the Legacy Editor copy-pasting from Word did not solve this problem. However, we find that the Third Gen Editor does support em-dashes. Hope this helps! Good luck!

We first posted about this two years ago. It is frustrating, to be honest. Especially frustrating to see CC staff continue to offer a solution which, according to feedback you've received from us and others, does not work.

Dear Constant Contact: Please note that this is not an acceptable solution. As we've pointed out before, it is not easy (takes about 50 keystrokes) and it does not work (displays incorrectly depending upon font, template, device). An em-dash is an essential punctuation mark in English. Other programs that rely on html are able to incorporate it. Why so hard?

I agree with those who have posted above. I resent the "idea forum/community." I especially resent the "badges" that I receive, as if I were a Girl Scout. Really. I pay for a service and need support. I also need an opporutnity to voice complaints. As small business people, we know we would never treat our customers this way.

Constant Contact: The welcome email that you send to our constituents is really subpar. It cannot be customized to reflect our brand, cannot be styled in the way an email campaign can. Why not? This just doesn't make sense to me. What would you think if you got this from a company you do business with? We rely on Constant Contact to communicate with a range of constituents. But I don't feel good about thier receiving this communication from us. (The notice we recently recieved indicating that Constant Contact will increase our costs by more than 10% makes me feel even less good about it!)

While it must be noted that 50 keystrokes in order to enter a common punctuation mark cannot be considered a "really easy" solution, we did try this for some time. However, we found it does not work reliably. It displays differntly and incorrectly depending upon the font and the devise being used to view the message (if using a template that adjusts for screen size). Constant Contact really needs to fix this.

This is a critical issue for us. We are issuing a press release and cannot properly represent the names of people and places in Hawai'i. The limitaiton makes us look backward. We urge Consant Contact to address this problem ASAP.

Good to know that there is a solution to this vexing problem. I would not call it "super easy" -- and it is imperfect, since it does not translate well for those receiving the text version.
