Enhanced functionality with Automation Path Builder

Hello team!

5 years with and it was pretty straightforward there. I didnt know it doesn't exist here before I moved to CC.

When selecting

>Automations

>Create custom path

>Starting point

Trigger - someone is added to the list

When i press the ... to Edit this, it shows me the list I want to send it to and I have multiple lists so I can choose which list to send automations to

(No issues so far)

However, just like I can select from multiple contact list and choose 1, kindly add within the contact list, the option of

"Send this content to contacts whose ..." (required)
Add drop down: job title (or city or state or company)

is

________________ (required)

This feature actually exists in CC under different scenario.

Here is how I get to it:

>New campaign

>Hover over UI and click the bulb on the right that says "make this layout dynamic"

>"Send this content to contacts whose ..." (required)
drop down: job title (or city or state or company)

is

________________ (required)

This way, I am able to send automations to only people who have subscribed to my mailing list from a specific city or a company or a job title. I do not want to create a new contact list everytime I create an automation for people working in different companies, located in different cities or jobs.

Hope my explanation is clear. Looking forward to the feature!

Hi everyone,

Thank you for your ongoing feedback and for sharing your specific use cases for the Automation Path Builder! We completely agree that robust segmentation and the ability to customize user journeys without creating unnecessary clutter are what make automations so powerful.

We have some great news regarding the original request in this thread!

You no longer need to manually create dozens of separate contact lists just to send an automation to a specific demographic (like filtering by Job Title, City, or Company). In our modern Automation Path Builder, you can now add Contact Filters directly to your starting trigger!

  1. Create a custom path and choose your standard trigger (e.g., Added to a specific list).

  2. Before saving the trigger, select the option to add a Contact filter.

  3. Select your Custom Field criteria (e.g., Job Title is Manager).

Now, when a contact joins your main master list, the system will immediately check their job title. If they are a manager, they enter this specific automation. If they aren't, they bypass it entirely! This allows you to build highly targeted sequences without cluttering your database with micro-lists.

Regarding the secondary request to have a "No" branch merge back into the main "Yes" branch (a "go-to" or loop action) after a reminder email: this remains Acknowledged and under consideration by our development team.

Currently, our Automation Path Builder operates as a linear tree structure. This means paths cannot cross or merge back together once a Conditional Split separates them.

If you send a quick reminder email to non-openers on a "No" branch but want them to receive the exact same follow-up emails as the "Yes" branch, you must currently recreate those subsequent steps down the "No" branch. To save time and avoid designing from scratch, we highly recommend using Saved Content Blocks or simply copying your previous email drafts directly into those steps!

We are keeping this thread marked as Acknowledged so our product teams can continue to track the demand for advanced "merge branch" functionality in future updates. Thank you again for helping us improve the platform!
