Unclear whiy the API calls no longer work

Hi,

An external partner created an integration for our WordPress site and since yesterday (or maybe before, it's a bit unclear) they've been receiving an error when posting. They tried to login and it says "Unauthorized". I suspect their account may have been inadvertently deleted but I'm not sure. I can't find the account owner so  I'm not really sure (I'm just the admin).

What are my options? Since I'm an account admin, can I create a new key and use that instead of the one that was there before?

Also, if an API key exists and the account gets deleted, does the key automatically get deleted also? Or is it transferred back to the account owner?

Yes, lots of questions… 🙂

Hello user61100,

Thank you for reaching out to Constant Contact API Developer Support. My team is here to assist outside software developers with questions about building into Constant Contact's API.

Typically when unauthorized is returned, it can mean that the permissions granted were revoked, or that the account user (usually an account manager) that initially connected the integration has been disabled or removed by the account owner, or that the account manager's role was changed to a campaign creator and no longer has the needed authorization for the required permissions .

If a user that created an API key is deleted, the API key remains active and will continue to work. However, depending on the key type, you may not be able to access or make changes to that key via the other users on the account.

If you're still running into this issue, please feel free to reach out to our team directly/securely via email at webservices@constantcontact.com with the API key in question, referencing case #32618346, and we'd be happy to take a look and see if we can determine the cause of the error.

Please have a look and let us know if you have any other questions!
