This is for the dev team. The only way to properly ensure that phone numbers are linked in Androids Gmail App is by using a link. In your page builder, you can only insert http and mailto links. There is no way to make GMail on Android parse these numbers automatically and without that tel link, you are missing a huge number of potential phone calls by not allowing those links in the email builder. This shouldn't negatively affect any clients that don't display linked numbers. It works on Apple, iOS, Outlook Desktop & Mobile and many other web and mobile clients, so there is no reason not to have this.
