I agree this is difficult to use. It is hit or miss to be able to get the edit feature for blocks on the side. No matter how much I try to bring the edit tool up on the side of the block it will not come up. Occasionally it does and then I feel like throwing a party. Half the time I can't delete a block so I have to either use it for something else, or just leave it there, and try to get it as small and unnoticeable as possible.
