By following proven strategies and techniques, you can effectively engage your target audience, boost brand awareness, generate leads, and create memorable experiences right from the day you announce your event.

Before the Event

  • Promote your event by sending a press release.
  • Share your event on social media by posting to your own accounts, partnering with influencers, and live streaming. Be sure to highlight exciting updates, such as keynote speaker introductions.
  • Create a landing page or pop-up forms.
  • Send email reminders. For example, the Orange County Asperger's Support Group creates buzz right up until the event with countdown emails.
  • Spark FOMO (Fear of Missing Out) by showing your audience videos and images that will get them excited about your gathering. Remember that when you are creating event marketing materials, use content that is authentic to your business instead of leaning on stock photography. If this is an annual event, draw from your photography and user-generated content from previous years.

During the Event

  • Document the big day by taking lots of photos and videos that you can share on social media and use for future marketing materials. Don't forget to encourage attendees to do the same!
  • Post sign-up sheets at your business and include QR codes on signage to make it easy for people to sign up for your email list.
  • Share text-to-join instructions.

After the Event

  • Send attendees a text and/or email thanking them for attending and ask them for feedback.
  • Send people who RSVPed but did not attend a "we missed you!" event recap.
  • Post photos and recaps to social media.
  • Repost and share attendee content about the event.
  • Include photos and information from the event in upcoming newsletters.

Evaluate these key metrics to measure success:

  • Event attendance
  • Email, social and text engagement
  • Product sales
  • Donations
  • Email list signups
