Good question! Are you referring to custom fields that you insert into your campaign? If so, we have no way of shortening those at this time. The information would need to be shortened in the contact record itself. If you didn't want to lose that data, but still wanted to display the shortened field inside of the email campaign, I'd recommend having two custom fields, one with the shortened data, and one with the full length. (Custom field 1: 12345678, Custom field 2: 1234). Then you can just insert Custom Field 2 into the campaign, but still have Custom Field 1 remain in the contact data for reference.
