Automation Sending Multiple Emails Instead of One

I was testing my automation series with a small test list of emails, and everything seemed fine at first. I set the test to send 24 hours later, which it did, but then something strange happened. The system sent the same email six times to each contact on my test list. An hour later, it sent another three emails. Can anyone explain why this happened and how to fix it? I want to avoid spamming my readers with multiple copies of the same email. I only want one automated email to go out at the scheduled time after the trigger.

Additionally, because of the multiple sends, my email data is now inaccurate. For example, the total sends is showing as 13 but

the open and click rates are well over 100%.
