That error can show if your account's organization details are blank. I'd advise updating your account settings, and getting all information filled out that's necessary for your account's setup, prior to inviting additional users.

What was the wording of the error message, or can you provide a screencap of the error message itself without showing your user's email address?
The error message was in red box and said "There was an error sending invite"
