RobertS2812,
I am happy to help you improve your emails getting delivered. The Junk folder and the Gmail Promotions folder are two different destinations and so there are two different ways to dewal with them.
To Get Your Email Into Gmail's Primary Tab:
Gmail introduced three Inbox tabs, Primary, Social, and Promotions, to help improve deliverability, open rates, and help decrease spam complaints. Constant Contact emails typically end up in the Promotions tab because we are an Email Service Provider (ESP). There are instances where you might like the email you send to arrive in the Primary tab as opposed to the Promotions tab. To increase the likelihood of your email being delivered to the Primary tab, try these things:
Have no more than 1 link in your email.
Include no images.
Avoid spelling and grammar errors especially in the Subject and From line.
Mention the reader's name.
Delete any RSS Feed data from your email.
Write to the reader as if he or she is your friend.
Avoid using spam like characteristics in your subject line and body of your email such as: Attention!! EASY MONEY FOR YOU!!!!$$$$.
Write in traditional letter form.
Add your email address to your email client's safe sender list.
Keep your emails short.
Avoid blatant selling of products or services.
Authenticateyour sending ID.
Encourage engagement like opens and clicks.
Keep in mind that these are suggestions to help your email get into the Primary tab on Gmail and they may not line up with our typical best practices for email marketing campaigns. Use your best judgment when deciding which of these methods you'd like to try and on which email campaigns; not every email you send is going to align with the suggestions listed. While sometimes you might want your email in the Primary tab, don't fear the Promotions tab. The Promotions tab has been known to improve deliverability, increase open rates, and decrease spam complaints.
Common phrases that trigger spam filters:
To minimize the possibility that your emails will be filtered out as spam, avoid the following phrases in your emails:
Words -free, guarantee, spam, viagra, sex, etc.
Phrases -"be amazed", "your income", "subject to credit approval", "earn xxxx per week", "check or money order", "print out and fax", "call now", "act now"
Uppercase -Writing in ALL CAPS
Punctuation -Excessive use of ..., !!!, and ???
Links -Excessive use of "click here"
Symbols -Excessive use of $$, %, and other symbols
I hope this helps!
