Concerning Traffic from Emails

IsraelInstitute

Hi! I'm at such a loss as to why this is happening. I want to make sure I keep the data and website safe I'm seeing some weird traffic source/medium showing up in the website's data dashboard (Google Analytics 4). It happens around the same day the company send an email campaign from constant contact. And when I look at the constant contact data it looks clean? (attaching screenshot). This is what the email was like: https://myemail.constantcontact.com/Add-Modern-Israel-Studies-to-your-syllabus.html?soid=11124545192... the utm'ed source and medium look clean on the email links.... utm_source=constantcontact&utm_medium=email&utm_id=facdev-2024 how/why would source adjust to something crazy like DbafgbagDbagbdg and dbafgbagDbagbdg? Has anyone seen anything like this before (Google Analytics 4 screenshot attached)? this is the 3rd time this is happening when an email campaign gets sent out - and its really clogging up the data. And feels concerning

Hello @IsraelInstitute ,

The only data we pass back to Google Analytics is from the parameters that you'd add to the links in your campaigns. Unless you're explicitly adding the "DbafgbagDbagbdg" to your links, we wouldn't really have any insight on that code, nor why it would be showing up in your GA reporting. It may be more worthwhile to reach out to GA's support, to see what insight they'd have over that specific traffic code.

Hi, just want to share that all of my Google Analytics reporting has also reported high traffic numbers from "DbafgbagDbagbdg" on days of email sends from Constant Contact. We have seen this happen across different Constant Contact accounts/program websites across the board. Seems like it very well could be related.
