Creating a "email lists" but for SMS

We are working on adding SMS to our account to connect with members. We have multiple areas and want to be able to have members sign up for a certain area to receive texts for that area only. How should we go about this? Example we have conferences in Dallas and want members signed up for a Dallas text list. We have these already for email but how can we go about getting them signed up on text for this kind of thing?

You can utilize our sign up landing pages for those individual lists, so when a contact wants to receive SMS updates for a particular area, they select the link to that landing page form.
