Display verification when being "unsubscribed" and when being "added back to a list"

JohnK6030

Current when a contact get unsubscribed, the user's display provides NO indication that they were "unsubscribe". They should be given to option "do you really want to unsubscribe" or not.

The same thing happens when a person is sent a CC "resubscribe" email and they do the requested action, there is NO indication if they were successful or not.

Hello @JohnK6030 ,

This is currently the default functionality when a contact unsubscribes via the footer link in emails sent through us. There is also a confirmation when contacts clicks the resubscribe link in resubscription emails, and confirms the resubscription.

Its great that you know, but the contact person does not!!
2 recent contacts stated to me the when they, in error, unsubscribed, they were NOT aware they had done so until I contacted them.
Likewise when these same 2 contacts received the resubscribe email, they did the required actions, they were unaware they were successful in doing so until I contacted them.
Also, I was unaware they were successful until I logged on and went to the list they were on and saw their status had changed.

You can setup your account to receive daily subscriber updates, if so desired. If you're wanting an immediate notification for each individual new subscriber / resubscribe, then that is currently a feature request.

The confirmations for unsubscribing and resubscribing display for whomever accesses those coded links and follows through on the process of the un/resubscription. If you need examples of what the contacts would have seen, then please refer to the articles linked in my earlier response.

OK, but what about enhancements so the contact knows what they did "unsubscribe" and "been successful when they resubscribe"

Do I need to do more then what I have done to make the above a "requested enhancement"?

There wouldn't really be a way to further "enhance" this, since contacts are already made aware of what they've unsubbed from, and given the chance to resub if they think they made a mistake. Similarly if they resubscribe, they are explicitly told they can unsub again, if they feel they made a mistake.

The confirmation pages that explicitly display when they've confirmed their un/resubscription are anti-spam law compliant, and considered best practice for this industry.

For what it is worth,

when I "unsubscribe/cancelation" from an internet, I always", to the best of my recall, received an response from that vendor that I "have unsubscribed" and/or give the opportunity to cancel my 'unsubscribe" request.

Likewise, when I start/restart an internet service, a "welcome" type message is received.

From your last reply, my contacts will have be contacted by me/my organization for both cases., as I previously have had to do.

 Disappointed!

Unsubscribing from emails is different from unsubscribing from a paid subscription service / cancelling an account, and have different legal obligations. The same applies to starting up a new account / paying for a subscription again. Different situations, different processes, different legal obligations. It's why, for example, you can unsubscribe from all general marketing emails from our company, but you can't technically unsubscribe from major account update emails without wholly cancelling and deleting your account.

If you are worried about this procedure, it may be beneficial to contact your representative or MP and ask for a modification in the way email communications are legally managed.

While we understand you're sentiment, we have to follow certain legal and anti-spam regulations. This means that we can't keep sending emails to people who have unsubscribed or resubscribed.
