adding contacts- importing and getting onto my list

I click add contacts, select my list "family fun"

manually add 500 contacts at a time,

but they are not showing up in the list-

only that I added 500 subscribers

how do I get them to the list?

Are the contacts actually not showing in the list, or is the page just taking a moment to update with the correct number of contacts?
