sorting columns that. contain a custom field

Our account is linked to our Donor Perfect accound and we have created a custom field that shows the date of the last gift someone gave. We are about to send a series of emails asking for end of year donations. I would love to be able to sort my list using the column of last date givena nd exclude folks from receiving future emails if they have already given. How can I do that?

Sorting by custom fields is not currently available in the contacts page.

Would it be possible to get that feature in the future? it would be really helpful. It's always so frustrating when I try to click on a custom field heading to sort and it does nothing.
