Forunately all the major ones operate the same: you take a long URL you want shortened, paste it into their converter, and then copy the smaller URL they provide.
I personally use TinyURL and Bitly the most, but you may find others you prefer by searching on the internet.
URL shorteners are also good for putting into social posts, business cards, and flyers. Since many specific webpages tend to have very long URLs, such as video hosting sites, social platforms, cloud drives' files, etc. URL shorteners are good resources to have on hand, for the sake of a cleaner look and to more easily type out if necessary.
