William A - ahh - yes, this is very helpful - I had the whole email in one long block - so I began to break things up into smaller blocks and I think that solves the problem. But it raises another one - I found that I didn't know how to use the block ediitor - is there a good tutorial that covers the basics of creating a fairly straightforward email with the block editor? Thanks again for ansswering.

I am trying to edit an email using the editing tool online - I must be doing something wrong because the toolbar makes it almost impossible to edit the first paragraph (i have to nudge it around and can only see one line at a time) - is there some way to tell the toolbar to kindly move elsewhere on the page? This is really difficult to work with. Help! (I called technical support last time this frustrated me and was not able to get any useful advice.)

I am a long time user of Constant Contact, but have spent woefully little time really analyizing my results. So in my recent research I discovered my nice fairly simple emails are going into Google's Promotional folder. I was unable to find articles in CC knowledgebase about why email is going into Promotions (it's really just a newsletter - I'm not actively selling anything). So I tried to ask google what is going on. Google response was that the reason for gmail mocinf my email ro the promotion tab is because it is rich in HTML. Of course from an attractive marketing point of view, HTML is wonderful and I do frankly love the look of my little newsletter. But I need to get it in front of the user's eyeballs - and the Promotions tab is not what I was hoping for. I thought it would be neat to experiment with just a simple email blast with hardly any HTML - and then to simply point to a landing page that includes my whole newsletter. When I tried to find a super-plain, low-html template in Constant Contact I was unsuccessful so I can't even try the experiment. Can anyone point me to a knowledgebase article, either about how to send an "html-lite" template (with just a few links)? It would be a really good resource for just sending out simple announcements. (I found a 40 page document about the advanced HTML editor but it would take me months to sort all that out.) Also, in addition to the "low html" template, I would be interested to read any articles you could suggest about how to stay out of Promotions and help me get my newsletter into the primary "IN" tab in gmail. Zoe! That's it! Thanks. All of my text is in one block. So now I have to seperate it out into separate blocks? It seems like extra work for little benefit? Is there a tutorial on how or why separating into blocks is a best practice? Thanks again. I guess I should mark it as accepting a solution, but I'm also hoping for a followup answer. Jerry

Hi Zoe, thanks for your prompt reply. That makes perfect sense, except when I drag the button onto my email, only the vertical bars show up. I have dragged it around the screen and cannot see the purple bar appear horizontally. Any further tips are welcome. Jerry

I have never added a button to my emails before, and I thought it would be easy. So I just dragged a button widget fromt the Build area and dropped it into my email. That should have been easy. But the button appeared in its own column to the left of the email. Of course, I just wanted the button in-line, and I can't figure out how to do this simple thing. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Jerry
