Your observations are correct. They are using a specific template designed by our template design team. Those specific features are not available in that editor. It looks like they were using the Birthday Banner template and made some edits as far as color, background pattern, etc.

At this time the Read More block functions akin to similar layout blocks, where all the elements are built-in (borders, text, image, etc.). With that said, if you're wanting to achieve a similar effect, you can throw a text block or two and a button block together, and achieve the same effect as a "Read More" without the image portion.
