Substituting content in email body from the API

We have an informational feed that gets sent out to subscribers.  What we would like is to create an email body in the website editor, then have the API inject information content into a paragraph in the body and send that out to contact lists.

It seems that most of the double-bracket substitutions are contact-oriented, and for short words & phrases.  What is the best way to substitute campaign-oriented multiline content into an email when a campaign gets sent out, all via the API?

Re: Substituting content in email body from the API

Hi @HowardG197,

Thank you for reaching out to Constant Contact's API Support.

If you use an email template from our website UI you will not be able to use the API to edit or add content to that email template. In order to use the API to edit an email you will want to use what we call an custom code email. That is an email that uses your own HTML. You can read our documentation for this here.
