Image links with https versus http

Hello all...

I'm putting together an email to send to individuals both inside and outside of our internal network.  We work in an organization that prevents us from simply uploading images to Constant Contact and using those.  When sending inside of our network, our firewall blocks them.  There is no option to allow these images.  So I've created a workaround, so to speak...where I simply upload the images to our external website.  In past emails, I've linked to images using simply http://..., even though our web site is secure (https://...).  The images are still being blocked when trying to use https://, and the CC editor does not recognize them when I try to use simply http://.  I get an "That image URL is not valid. Give it another shot." error.  Has anyone else run into this issue when putting their campaigns together?

Any light you can shed on this would help so much!  Thanks for reading...

Hi @BWIOCCR

Thank you for reaching out to the Community about the images in your email! We do see many users insert images through an outside URL. I apologize you're having this experience with your images. Have you tried using a shortened version your image URL? Or even safelisting Constant Contact in your security settings? Adding our Constant Contact URLs or IP addresses to a security program's whitelist is a great step to prevent email display issues.

I just had the same issue with image links *that I used in an email last week**. The links worked fine last week, but now I get the same "That URL is not  valid..." message. Please help!

Hello @LilaStrode,

Thank you for reaching out to the Community and I apologize that you are having the same experience. Have you tried using a shortened version your image URL? Or even whitelisting Constant Contact in your security settings? Adding our Constant Contact URLs or IP addresses to a security program's whitelist is a great step to prevent these error messages from appearing.

I'm having the same problem.  I had the problem a while back on Chrome, then tried it in Microsoft Edge and it worked for a few months.  Now it has stopped working in MS Edge, and it is not working in Chrome either.  I've used Constant Contact for years, and I just link the images from my blog posts to CC emails.  Not sure why it stopped working.  I tried it with a shortened bitly link and that didn't work either.  Please advise.  Thank you!

Same issue. Try using the URL option in Safari then go back to whichever browser you were initially using.

Has this issue been resolved by anyone? I'm having the same issue with image URLs now.

Hi @LizzieC26. We do not have any information to share regarding the error message mentioned above. As a workaround, you can download the image and upload to the library manually or try a different browser when entering the URL.
