Do you have any thoughts about including some personal information about the author in newsletters as a way to build relationships and get readership? Things like family history, background, education, likes, travels, preferences, etc.? Is it a good or bad idea. I am thinking it takes the bland out of pure business material. Thank you for responding!

Hello @DavidL201 ,

Generally speaking, anything they'd be willing to share, as well as accolades, job titles, or other elements relevant to the context of the writing would be good. It would work in a similar vein as that of author bios on books or at the end of news articles and op-eds. If the author of your newsletter's article has an About section on a website of theirs, or a relatively detailed social platform bio, you could also look to those for inspiration on what to include.

In most cases, for small businesses, yes, you want to make these emails feel like they are coming from a real person. You don't want to send the email from a "sales@yourcompany.com" email address. And yes, adding some tidbits of bio, helps make that point. You can even include a small article with each email about something you experienced recently (good or bad things). That all helps you become more approachable, likable and makes people more comfortable with you.

If we can be of help, don't hesitate to reach out.
