I keep getting this error when uploading.

emails all seem correct

You selected "Email address" for one or more columns of data that are not in the email format. Please select another field name.

I'd advise either replying directly to the @ mention email you receive from this response with the contact list attached, or call our general support so we can check out the file. Additionally, make sure there's no extra symbols (such as commas or semicolons), or erroneous spaces before or after the email addresses you're trying to upload.
