Hello,
I am looking into adding whitepaper downloads on my Wordpress Divi Builder website. My goal is to have visitors subscribe to download whitepapers. Each whitepaper will connect to a different list that pertains to more on what the whitepaper discusses. I am trying to use the Constant Contact plugin to do this. I have tried to set it up so that when someone subscribes, they will then get an automated email that has the whitepaper download. The Subscription portion works as the list updates, but it is not triggering the automated email. Does anyone know the best way to get this to work? Also, is there a way that after someone hits subscribe on the site, that it would download instantly instead of needing to do the automated email?
Thank you!!
Hello @EvanH ,
Some questions for troubleshooting-
As far as getting the download to the new subscribers right away, the easiest would be to utilize a sign-up landing page, so you can set the "whitepaper" to be immediately available on the thank you page.
Hi @William_A
Thank you for the quick response!
1. They are being added to the Constant contact account to the correct list
2. They did not, but if they were on another email and subscribed, I would still need them to receive the download link
3. The Trigger is for when someone subscribes to the list. that list is the same list that is collecting leads from the site from #1.
4. On the Wordpress side, I am using the Wordpress integration
For the sign-up landing page, is there a way to embed that within wordpress so I would not have to take visitors off the site? Or how do people normally set this up?
Thank you for your help!!
Thank you for the follow-up. Based on the info provided, I believe the issue is tied into how the new subscriber trigger functions.
New Subscriber automations, sometimes referred to as welcome emails, are only set to trigger off of brand new contacts signing up directly through sign-up forms. If you set the automation to be new list additions, that will trigger off any contacts being added to the speicified list(s), whether you manually add them or they sign up through a connected form, whether they're existing contacts or entirely new subscribers.
Make sure to check out this overview of automation triggers and how they function for more info.
Regarding the the landing pages, they are not embeddable, since they're meant to be linkable or pasted as raw URLs essentially anywhere.
Hi again!
I made that change to the trigger to be "Someone is added to 1 list"- Then have that list connected with the list that is gathering the sign-ups from the constant contact plugin on the wordpress site. After that in the automation path, I have "Send an email." I copied an email I had created that is an email that has the .pdf whitepaper download. I did not put any time delay between the two. Any ideas on why this would still not be sending?
Thank you again for your assistance!
Did you remove the contacts from the associated lists prior to signing them up through that sign-up form?
