add a way to track contacts over time please!

0 Votes

Hello,

Please add a way to track the # of contacts over time for certain lists (and the whole list). I am benchmarked on the growth of one particular list, and I want to be able to pull contact reports say of contact growth (or not growth) over a calendar year, or two quarters last year, or a fiscal year, or two fiscal years, or custom dates. I know I am not alone in this -- plenty of marketers have these benchmarks we are trying to meet, especially now that a lot of orgs/businesses are realizing that they own their email list and that's where the gold is. Please let us have insights into what's working! (And save us time in pulling these reports. I am doing this all manually right now and that is ridiculous in 2025.)

Hello @bethK3 ,

For the people writing up the service request, can you provide further elaboration of some of the following?

  • Examples or elaboration on how you want this data presented - graph / chart style, drilldowns, etc.
  • Elaboration on what you want included in the subscriber update emails, per your original Questions & Discussions post

I'm not bothered about how the data is presented -- the ability to pull the data is what's important. By date and numbers of contacts. Custom dates, and also the usual pre-filled date formats like "calendar year to date" "last year" etc (a la what Google Analytics and Squarespace offer for time frames). And by list please. I need to be able to track the performance of the list I am being benchmarked on. If I can screengrab a line chart of last year's (or over two years, or over the past few quarters) email attrition by list, that would be gravy. But however you all end up offering a visual would be fine by me.

I didn't say I wanted anything in the subscriber update emails, so can't really elaborate on that.

From your OP:

Just showing a bar graph that says "you added 4k contacts this year/in the past 90 days" is not helpful at all, nor is it helpful to receive notifications of unsubscribes/subscribes every day or week -- I want to know and see a trend of how we're doing over time.

If you're not looking for additional elements from the subscriber update emails, then I will remove that from the feature request case.

Another element from your OP:

Is it possible to see an actual visual of contact growth over time -- ie a line graph that shows contacts added over a period of 12 months, broken out by month or week?

If you're not concerned with how the data is presented, then what aspects from the existing Contact Growth report and exports functions are you needing enhanced? If you're needing a specific quarter from a specific year, then you'd use a custom date. If you need a a specific week, then you'd set up a specific date, etc. You'd then export that info.

The existing Contact Growth report shows only the totals of emails added/unsubscribed for the entire account for the requested time period.

No report is available to show this data by list (or segment or tag). No report can currently show me what happened over time -- ie I've pulled the unsubscribe data over one year, and pulled it out by day or by month, so that I can see, "oh, here's where those 500 unsubscribes occurred" and ":oh, that multi-channel push we did to gather new email addresses really helped" so that I can respond accordingly.
