When temporary hold is applied, does the temporary hold stay on until it is manually removed?

Yes it does, temporary hold remains on until it is manually removed and switched back to active send status. With this it is important to keep track of the contacts that you place on the temporary to make sure that they don’t remain on hold past there intended time.

thank you for the reply.  Is there a way to mark a whole list as " Temporary Hold" ?

I don't want to delete these contacts but keep them in case I want to make calls to them and get new emails.

Contacts can only be put on temporary hold individually.

Why?  It seems like this policy is designed to make is administratively difficult not to be overcharged.  It is purposeful inefficiency isn't it?  You should be able to easily move a whole list from subscribe to temporary hold and back again if you aren't going to be using a list for a period of months for whatever reason.
