Email - Ability to save and reuse a block in other campaigns

It would be nice if we could create blocks that we could save into a library of sorts. All of our campaigns use similar contact blocks but very different headers. It would be nice to not have to recreate the block from scratch, or to exit the campaign, find the other campaign, copy the code, then head back to the original campaign.

Hello,

Updating the status of this request to Under Consideration to support our new community idea statuses to add better insight into your feedback.

Thank you for all of your feedback on this topic; I know this request has been around for many years. This is something we would love to be able to implement. We’ve had some plans in the past that have been reprioritized. The current thought is that we hope we will be able to focus on this at some point in the future, and some of the ideas floated around have been really cool! That being said, I don’t have any sort of estimated time that it might be accomplished. We do have a potential new feature coming this quarter that may help. We will keep this thread updated.

It looks like many people have responded to this thread saying that they would like this feature - is there any movement on making it happen? It would be SO helpful and SAVE so much time if we could either save blocks (as suggested by the OP), OR easily copy and paste a block from one email to another.

Dear Friends,

This has been on the back burner for CC for about a decade. No one should hold their breath.  However, here's what I do when I need to copy a lot from different blocks when simply copying a past email isn't enough.  Maybe you are all doing this already.  It is not a complete fix, but helps.  I go to each past email that has the blocks I need, then pull up its detail page and click the link to it.  Each time, it pops up in a fresh browser tab.  Then i have access to the text and text links (not buttons or images), and the color of the font remains too.  Seeing it in another browser window also helps me recreate the rest of the layout swiftly.

Hope this helps someone....

Peace,

Annapurna

@SRVAssociations, Your workaround is what I have resorted to also, but when layouts are more complex it sure doesn't feel like it saves very much time. Better would be if from the detail page you could also access the editor to copy the elements. I'm not sure how much that would help anyway though. What you really want to be able to do is copy a block from one email to another, and especially be able to save those repeatedly used blocks in a library, whether it be the image library or a 2nd one.

Definitely agree though, let's not any of us hold our breath!

Thank you Annapurna for the suggestion to open the link to the email campaign from the Details Page!  I tried this and it did open in a new browser window.  Although not as efficient as having a saveable block library to insert from, this is indeed a huge shortcut/timesaver to re-create format/font/colors/graphics.  Thank you for sharing!

I too would like the option to easily copy text blocks/images/links from one campaign to another without having to rebuild from scratch. Is there an easy solution to this issue?

ChrisB756 unfortunately, there is no "quick solution" for this. It has been requested frequently since 2015 and CC has still not created a solution. What I have done is create a template of a frequently used format, then copy the entire thing, deleting parts or adding new aspects as needed. It's not perfect, but it's something. If I need to add part of an old email to a brand-new email, unfortunately, like everyone else, I'm stuck recreating that aspect from scratch. It's really not handy.

Is there an update on this request nearly 9 years after it's been posted? This would save so much time. Templates are nice, but when you want to mix and match elements from different templates it'd be nice to just drop them into place.

I manage a weekly campaign that contains many events.  Each event contains multiple separate objects that I am unable to incorporate into one singular large object to move at once.

It would be great if there was a way to select more than one object and do the following:

  • copy/paste it as a whole either in the same campaign or in another campaign
  • move multiple objects as a whole to a new location in the campaign

Would love the ability to copy some content (sections w/articles and images inserted) of one campaign to another without copying the entire campaign. My understanding is that you can only copy an entire campaign.

Using an Email as an example, I want to copy content from Email1 (draft) and paste to Email2 (draft) to avoid recreating my work by manually adding the content again in Email2.

In this case, Copying the whole Email (Email1) will not help me because there is unique content in Email2 that I already built and would not be included in the Copy of Email1. If I copied Email1 now, I would still have to re-build some of the content from Email2 into the Copy of Email1.

In short, I need some content from each email, but don't want to recreate it manually as it is a significant effort. I can certainly Copy text from one Email1, but still need to build each design feature manually, then I can paste the text to Email2.

content such as data table, section with the articles, text, images within the sections), without Copy the entire Email
