I have been using a preheader and it still picks up first line of text after the preheader ! I do not want that. How do I make that stop?

Hello @SherrieB04 ,

That will depend on the email program. Preheaders are essentially just text that appear in an email program's inbox preview before the actual text of the email will display. If you don't want both to display, you can either add additional text to your preheader to make it take up more room in an email program's preview, or you can forego the preheader altogether.

Thank you! I just wish it did not pick up any text from the email. Is there a way to do that?

Hi @SherrieB04 ,

I completely understand wanting the Preheader to not pick anything up at all. Since it is the recipient's email client that is pulling that text from the email, there isn't anything we can do to stop them from pulling it entirely. We provide the Preheader option for you to be able to designate what is shown in that field, but if you choose to leave that field blank and if there is any text present in the email campaign at all, the recipient's email client will automatically pull that text.

I will go ahead and pass along your feedback to our engineering team about wanting the Preheader to be blank, and they will reach back out to you if that is something we are able to do in the future.

Hi- No not looking for preheader to be blank. I just want it to say only what I want it to say and if it is brief, not to pick up from the text in the email.  Make sense?

Hi @SherrieB04 ,

Sure thing! I understand the concern. Unfortunately, we still don't have a lot of control over that. If the Preheader is not long enough to satisfy the space in the recipient's Preheader field, the receiving email client will still pull that first line of text. I'll certainly pass along your concerns, but the only way to avoid that right now would be to make the Preheader longer within the Constant Contact system.
