I'm confused how to use custom fields with a contact sign-up form. As an old IT guy, my mind thinks that the field should be added/tied to a contact list file. But that doesn't seem to be the case. I'm running a contest and I'm asking the subscriber to make a selection from one of 4 items. I want to save their selection to their contact list they are saved to. Can someone please clear this up for me?

Signup forms and contact fields through us don't utilize dropdown menus. You can upload, or the signee can manually add, something that would be added to their contact card with that info.
If you need to have the dropdown menu available as a selection, you can utilize a sign up form outside of our system, then upload that contact list with their options as basic text info for whatever the custom field is.
