Selecting Text Deletes it When Typing Over It

Not sure the best way to describe this issue, but basically when I select a bunch of text with the intention of just typing over it, the CC editor instead just deletes the selected text as soon as I try to start typing the new text, and removes the cursor so I can't type again unless I click into the text box.

How do I fix this? Is it just a glitch within CC? Sometimes I can select text and type over it just fine, and other times I will start typing over selected text, and because it deletes it and deactivates the cursor, my browser thinks I am trying to use keyboard shortcuts and will start doing all sorts of weird things.

I often re-use templates for our newsletters, and like to just type over existing content to keep its formatting.

Hello @Jody_Sauers ,

I wasn't able to recreate your issue, but based on your description, it sounds like some areas outside of the text block might be getting highlighted while dragging your cursor. This could cause the screen to think you're trying to put in keyboard functions for areas not meant for typing. You could also try triple-clicking if you're needing to highlight and type over an entire paragraph.

It's also possible that there might be a weird connectivity issues going on, that could be simply solved with a cache clear or by checking if you have any plugins / addons causing issues with the editor. It could also just be some browser-specific, and require an update of your browser if applicable.

Hi, I am having this exact same issue as well. It's not the issues you're describing. You should be able to position the cursor in between characters in a text block, but instead the cursor selects an entire letter (or space) and it deletes content as you type rather than inserting new text in front of the existing text.

Clearing the cache didn't seem to work. This is using Chrome and MacOS for me.

Hi @nbCommunityCoalition

Does this happen in more than one browser or a private/incognito window?  I have taken a look at your account and can see you are working in both our older Legacy Newsletters and our updated Third Generation Email newsletters. Are you having this experience with more than one email campaign? Having any further details you can give us including an example campaign can allow us to take a closer look.

For YEARS this has been an issue. I'm wring text, something is misspelled so I right click on it to fix it, and everything deletes. Or here is another example: I select all to copy and paste/bold/italicize/etc and the minute I hit the commands to do any of these functions the entire block of text deletes. This has been going on for years and honestly the most annoying feature of CC. What is going on? It's bad enough to not use the program anymore.

Hello @LittleLeapers,

It does sound like you possibly have a certain setting that needs to be turned off. Can you please try selecting "Num Lock" on your keyboard just once, and then try typing again? Thanks!
